LPB17 Industrial Process Gas Damper is a heavy-duty, high-temperature industrial damper engineered for isolation, throttling, and diversion of process gases, flue gas, and combustion air in power generation, cement, metallurgy, chemical, and waste-incineration plants—delivering dependable shutoff, precise flow modulation, and extended service life under extreme thermal, abrasive, and corrosive conditions.
Product Description
The LPB17 This industrial process gas damper is specifically designed for the most demanding heavy-industry gas handling duties where standard ventilation dampers cannot survive. Available in single-blade (butterfly), multi-blade (louver / opposed-blade), guillotine (slide-gate), and diverter (Y-type / T-type) configurations, each damper is fabricated from heavy-gauge carbon steel, stainless steel (304H / 316L / 310S / 321H), Inconel 600 / 625, or Hastelloy C-276 to withstand continuous operating temperatures from ambient up to +1,000 °C and system pressures from full vacuum to +150 Kpa. Blades are of robust airfoil or flat-plate construction, reinforced with internal ribs and, in high-temperature service, lined with castable refractory or ceramic-fiber insulation to protect the structural metal from radiant heat and thermal fatigue. Blade-edge sealing is achieved through machined stainless steel seat strips, resilient high-temperature silicone / ceramic-fiber gaskets, or metal-to-metal lapped joints, providing leakage classes from AMCA 511 Class 1A (≤ 0.5 %) for general isolation to near-zero-leak guillotine designs with knife-edge penetration for toxic or explosive gas containment. Drive systems include manual chain-wheel operators, worm-gear reducers, electric actuators (AUMA, Rotork, Schiebel), pneumatic / hydraulic cylinders, and spring-return fail-safe mechanisms, all interfaced with plant DCS / SCADA via 4–20 mA, Modbus, PROFIBUS, or hardwired interlock signals. Sizes range from 300 × 300 mm to 8,000 × 5,000 mm and beyond, with circular, rectangular, and transitional geometries fabricated to project-specific duct layouts. Whether isolating an ID fan for maintenance, modulating combustion air to a CFB boiler, diverting kiln exhaust gas to a waste-heat boiler, or providing emergency shutoff on a chlorine scrubber inlet, this damper is built to operate continuously in dusty, hot, corrosive, and high-cycle industrial environments with minimal maintenance intervention.
Key Features
-
Heavy-duty industrial construction – Frame and blades fabricated from 6–25 mm plate (carbon steel, SS 310S / 321H, Inconel 600) with full-penetration welds, internal stiffening ribs, and FEA-verified structural integrity for large-span duct openings up to 8,000 × 5,000 mm.
-
Extreme temperature capability – Standard range up to +450 °C; refractory-lined or ceramic-fiber-insulated variants rated to +1,000 °C for kiln exhaust, incinerator off-gas, and waste-heat-recovery bypass service; thermal-expansion sliding joints and high-temperature bearings (Inconel / Stellite bushings) accommodate differential growth without binding.
-
Abrasion & erosion resistance – Blade leading edges and seat areas hard-faced with Stellite 6 / 21, tungsten-carbide overlay, or replaceable ceramic (Al₂O₃ / SiC) liners for fly-ash, cement-kiln dust, and sinter-plant gas duties with dust loading exceeding 80 g/Nm³.
-
Corrosion-resistant materials – SS 316L / 317L, duplex 2205, Hastelloy C-276, or rubber-lined carbon steel wetted parts for FGD flue gas (pH 1–3, saturated SO₂ / HCl), chlorine, and acid-plant tail-gas applications.
-
Multiple leakage classes – Metal-to-metal seating for general isolation (AMCA Class 1A / EN 1751 Class 4); resilient high-temperature silicone or ceramic-fiber edge seals for tighter shutoff; knife-edge guillotine with packed gland for near-zero leakage on toxic, explosive, or radioactive gas lines.
-
Diverter & bypass configurations – Y-type, T-type, and multi-port diverter dampers with interlocked blade sequencing for positive gas routing between main duct and bypass (e.g., ESP / baghouse bypass, WHR boiler isolation, FGD bypass) without pressure surge or backflow.
-
Fail-safe actuation – Spring-return, counterweight, or hydraulic-accumulator fail-safe drive closes (or opens) the damper within 5–15 seconds upon loss of power or signal, meeting SIL 2 / SIL 3 safety-instrumented-system requirements for emergency isolation.
-
DCS / SCADA integration – Integrated positioners accepting 4–20 mA / HART / Modbus / PROFIBUS PA signals, with built-in limit and torque switches, local / remote selectors, and event logging for seamless connection to plant distributed-control and supervisory systems.
-
Low pressure drop, high flow capacity – Aerodynamically profiled blades and full-bore geometry keep permanent pressure loss below 20–50 Pa at full open, minimizing ID / FD fan energy consumption across thousands of operating hours per year.
-
Thermal insulation & personnel protection – External cladding with mineral-wool or calcium-silicate insulation (50–150 mm) and aluminum / stainless steel jacketing limits skin temperature to ≤ 60 °C per EN ISO 13732, protecting operators and reducing radiant heat loss.
-
Expansion-joint compatibility – Integral flanged or belled ends accept metallic (SS 321 / Inconel) or non-metallic (PTFE / fiberglass / silicone) expansion joints to absorb duct thermal growth, vibration, and seismic displacement without transmitting loads to the damper frame.
-
Maintenance-friendly design – Removable blade assemblies through side-access doors, external bearing and packing replacement without duct entry, and standardized actuator mounting (ISO 5211) reduce planned-outage time by up to 60 %.
-
Seismic & wind-load qualified – Structural design verified to IBC / ASCE 7 / EN 1998 seismic categories and outdoor wind / snow loads for exposed stack-top and rooftop installations.
-
Certification & testing – Hydrostatic / pneumatic shell test, hot-functional performance test at rated temperature, leakage test per AMCA 511 / EN 1751, NDT (RT / UT / PT) on critical welds, and optional PED 2014/68/EU, ASME BPVC, or GB/T certification.
