LPA16 Wafer Type Thin Ball Valve

LPA16 Wafer Type Thin Ball Valve

LPA16 Wafer Type Thin Ball Valve clamped directly between two pipe flanges—eliminating valve-body flanges entirely to achieve the shortest face-to-face dimension and lowest weight in its class, without compromising bubble-tight shutoff.

Product Description

The wafer-type thin ball valve replaces conventional flanged or threaded body designs with a monolithic slim-profile body sandwiched between pipeline flanges via through-bolts. This architecture cuts face-to-face length by up to 50 % and weight by up to 60 % compared to equivalent flanged ball valves, making it ideal for space-constrained skids, panels, and high-density piping racks.

The floating ball presses against a resilient seat ring under line pressure, delivering self-energizing, bidirectional zero-leakage sealing per API 598 Rate A. Seats in PTFE, RPTFE, or PEEK accommodate −29 °C to +200 °C. Body materials include WCB carbon steel, CF8/CF8M stainless steel, and duplex options. Sizes range DN 15 (½″) to DN 200 (8″), pressure classes PN 16–PN 63 / Class 150–300.

Key Features

  • Flangeless wafer envelope – Bolts pass through the valve body into both pipe flanges; no integral flanges, no extra gasket joints, minimal leak paths.
  • Ultra-short face-to-face – Freeing critical space in compact modules.
  • Featherweight construction – Up to 60 % lighter than flanged equivalents, reducing pipe support loads.
  • Pressure-energized soft seal – Line pressure forces ball into seat; sealing improves with differential pressure.
  • Bidirectional shutoff – Symmetric seat geometry provides equal sealing in both flow directions.
  • Blowout-proof stem & anti-static continuity – Standard safety features for hazardous-service compliance.
  • ISO 5211 top pad – Direct-coupled actuator mounting for pneumatic or electric automation.
  • Fire-safe option – Graphite secondary seat and metal-to-metal backup per API 607 / ISO 10497.

Typical Applications

  • High-density skid-mounted packages (oil & gas, chemical dosing)
  • Shipboard and offshore piping where weight and space are critical
  • HVAC and chilled-water manifolds in commercial buildings
  • Food & beverage CIP loops requiring frequent valve access
  • Instrumentation panels and pilot-plant rigs
  • Retrofit upgrades replacing bulky flanged valves without re-piping
